Imagine you live in a one room cinder block home with your family of five.
You have no electricity, no heat, no toilet, no sanitary, running water. You have to walk for hours every day just to bring water and food home. Your farmland is 40% rocks and it doesn’t rain for months on end. You are illiterate and you have never seen television or heard a radio.
Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere.
The infant mortality rate is the highest in the hemisphere and life expectancy is only 52 years. The adult HIV/AIDS prevalence rate is 5.6%, also the highest in the hemisphere. The Carmel 5k for Haiti was formed for the sole purpose of serving our brothers and sisters in Haiti. We are extremely fortunate to live in such a wealthy country and have so many resources available to us.

Location
St. Elizabeth Seton is located on the northeast corner of 106th Street and Haverstick Road in Carmel, IN.
Parking
Parking is available in the St. Elizabeth Seton parking lot on the west side of the church
Course Map
The Carmel 5k for Haiti route begins and ends at St. Elizabeth Seton. The course takes participants through the flat, fast neighborhood of the Woodlands.
Additional Info
Athletes must use caution when participating in race as there will NOT be any street closures. The course will be well marked and volunteers will help direct both athletes and traffic. All athletes must yield to traffic, especially when moving through the housing additions.
